Climate action, resource efficiency, and circularity performance are interconnected issues that significantly impact the economy as a whole. However, the current modelling capacity needs enhancement to capture their intricate interactions, thus posing challenges in representing the transformation of the European industry towards climate neutrality.
The EU-funded TRANSIENCE project aims to address this gap by assessing circularity principles and measures for the decarbonisation of European industries. The project will develop MIC3, an open-source model ecosystem that integrates interoperable modules from various perspectives of industry transformation.
Through extensive scenario modelling, TRANSIENCE will generate pathways to achieve a material-efficient, circular, climate-neutral, and sustainable European industry. Furthermore, the project will promote transparency, openness, and knowledge sharing while enhancing technical capacities in four EU industrial agglomerations.
The TRANSIENCE project has received funding from the European Union’s HORIZON EUROPE Research and Innovation Programme under grant agreement No 101137606.
